Orchids will be promoted by the plant industry a lot since the National Garden Bureau has announced 2023 will be the Year of the Orchid. And on top of that, 1-800-flowers.com also chose the Orchid as Flower of the Year, and it is listed on the 2023 autumn/winter trend collection list of the Flower Council of Holland. You bet the Orchid will be everywhere!

The Phalaenopsis Moth Orchid is the easiest of all orchids to care for. It grows breathtaking flowers in a variety of colors. The elegant and stylish blooms can last for many months.

As a prayer plant, the Rattlesnake plant opens its lance-shaped leaves during the day and, in reaction to changes in light, closes them at night like hands in prayer.

African violets bring vintage vibes into your home. Their blooms come in many different colors and give a real sense of nostalgia. Violets have been around for many years and are making a huge popularity comeback. Retailers are ready to push these nostalgic plants back into the foreground this year.

The plants are small and do well on a sunny kitchen window sill. With the proper care, indoor African violet plants can live for 10 or 15 years or longer and may bloom 10 to 12 months a year.

Pink plants are a plant trend that we’ve seen in 2022 and will remain throughout 2023. Attention-grabbing plants like the Stromanthe triostar, a stunning tropical houseplant with beautiful green, white, and pink leaves with pink or burgundy undersides.

Other pink plants to look out for are pink Caladiums or the beautiful Medinilla Magnifica.

Quickly becoming Instagram famous, this low-light plant is definitely having a moment. Alocasia Reginula Black Velvet is a miniature Alocasia that makes a big impression.

The Black velvet grows dark green, heart-shaped leaves with contrasting white veins and a velvety appearance. Since it is a compact growing Alocasia it is an ideal indoor plant even for small spaces.

Large plants and plants with big leaves will remain popular throughout 2023. Rubber plants and Fiddle leaf figs have been favorites for a while now and will definitely stay around. A relative newcomer on the scene of popular large indoor tree-like plants has been the Bird of Paradise plant.

We’ve been seeing the Strelitzia in photo feeds and magazines a lot. This year it will appear in homes even more. It’s a spectacular flowering statement plant!

Special Mentions

Special mention to all variegated plants. Especially those easy to care for like the variegated English Ivy and Pothos plants.

And of course, no need to get rid of the plants you already have. The Monstera deliciosa or Pilea peperomioides might not be as trendy as they once were, but they are still great indoor plants to love and care for.
