These 10 low-light indoor plants will transform your home into a green oasis. All the houseplants on this list can handle some neglect, are easy to care for, and most importantly, can grow in spaces with limited sunlight.
Be aware that all low light plants still require some light to thrive. A bathroom with no windows, or the end of a dark hallway doesn’t provide enough light for even the most resilient plants. They might survive for a little while, but they will gradually wither and decline. To keep plants healthy in such environments, consider using a grow light. These lamps provide the necessary light spectrum that plants need for photosynthesis.

Low Light Plants
Even thought all these plants can survive in lower light, expect them to grow slower, leaves to stay smaller and color and variegation fading more than if they would receive bright, indirect light.
If you can supply your plant with at least some (artificial) light, here are my favorite low-light house plants for you to choose from.
Snake Plant (Sansevieria)
The snake plant is a classic houseplant, known for its tall, upright succulent leaves. These evergreen plants can tolerate some neglect, do well in partial light and shady locations, and don’t mind dry air caused by our central heating. Because Snake Plants are air-purifying, and low maintenance, you often see them in dorm rooms, restaurants, offices, and hospitals.

Dragon Tree (Dracaena Marginata)
The Dracaena Marginata tolerates a range of indoor conditions. Keep the soil evenly moist, with proper drainage to prevent root rot. Pruning can encourage branching and create a bushier appearance. When growing larger, the Dracaena makes an excellent floor plant.

Swiss Cheese Plant (Monstera Deliciosa)
The Monstera deliciosa is a popular houseplant known for its large, fenestrated Swiss cheese leaves. It’s relatively easy to care for, making it a favorite for creating a lush, tropical ambiance indoors.
In nature, the Monstera deliciosa is used to growing in the shade of the forest canopy, so it can handle low light situations, making it a great indoor plant.

The large leaves come in a variety of variegated patterns with stunning cream, yellow, and green markings. Dieffenbachia plants are considered toxic when ingested.
