I am here. I was so here already. I just needed to push myself and jump.
It was in the early 2000s when I published my first blog post over at (the now defunct) ismoyo.com.
My first post was three sentences long and titled “I’ve got my sewing machine!” Oh, the freedom of complete lack of SEO. It was the start of almost a decade full of amazing adventures.
It was the time of coding the whole site in HTML yourself. Slicing images to divide an image into smaller images and make different parts click to different pages. If I wanted something on my site, I had to figure out how to code it. Now I just look for a plugin that is being kept up to date and has a decent amount of positive reviews.
It was also a time of a lot of crafting. I remember making and selling wool felt ipod cozies.
I became part of a blogging community in a time before Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. I made connections with many like-minded people and got a few great creative opportunities along the way (hello book deals! I got to applique and play with Sharpies!).
Now I’m here. I felt like being here for a while already. I just needed to push myself a little further.
In the last decades, my life has changed. I have changed.
I got married. I moved from continent to continent. I became a mother. I am me but in a different way.
I love my old business and am grateful to all it brought me. But I need to complete the change.
Mod and Mint. That’s where I am now. It feels fresh and right.
I am not quite sure yet where this new journey will take me, there will probably be some vintage, maybe some crafts and definitely a lot of indoor plants.
If I know you from my ismoyo days, thanks for joining me in this new adventure.
If you just found me here, hi and welcome, nice you meet you.
